THE ICON SERIES PROJECT

“The Icon Series - 1”, Australian Red Shield Appeal, 2001

The Icon Series - 1 has been developed by me to launch the Red Shield Appeal nationally for The Salvation Army.

The major part of the event is an exhibition and auction of 30 X 30 inch black and white images taken by me of prominent people.

The event is scheduled for the week of 4th June in the foyer of 101 Collins Street, Melbourne. The proceeds from the sale of the photographs will be as direct donations to The Red Shield Appeal - the welfare arm of The Salvation Army.

The people I have chosen to be photographed are those I have observed who, as leaders, have made a contribution to society in industry, politics, welfare, sport, arts and science.

Those who have been photographed are:

Sir William Deane; Richard Butler; Malcolm Fraser; Eva Burrows (General of the Salvation Army); Laurie Cox (director of Macquarie Bank); Campbell Amderson (former president of Business Council of Australia); Lizbeth Gore (comedienne); Rev. Tim Costello; John Clarke (comedian and writer); Bruce Beresford (director); Margaret Jackson (chairman of Qantas); Wayne Jackson( CEO of AFL); Sir Gus Nossal; Cathy Freeman; Meg Lees; Peter Garrett; Don Talbot; Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter (musicians); David Moore (photographer) and Glen Murcutt (architect).

The photographs (1100mms X 1200mm).

Blain Crellin.
